Cluj is one of the liveliest cities in Romania, with events all year round — from world-class music festivals to film, jazz and city celebrations. Here is the calendar of the main events in 2026, and how to find a good place to stay for each one.

Note: check the exact dates on the official websites before planning your stay — they can change from year to year.

Spring

TIFF — Transilvania International Film Festival (June). Romania’s largest film festival turns the city into one huge film set, with screenings in squares, cinemas and unexpected places. The centre becomes the heart of the festival — staying in the historic area puts you a few steps from everything.

Cluj Days (Zilele Clujului) (usually late May / early June). Concerts, shows and events all over the city, most of them in the centre and along the banks of the Someș.

Summer

Electric Castle (July, in Bonțida, near Cluj). One of Europe’s most acclaimed festivals, held at Bánffy Castle. Many festival-goers choose to stay in Cluj and commute to the site.

Jazz in the Park (summer). Jazz concerts in the Central Park and around the city — a relaxed event loved by locals and visitors alike.

UNTOLD (August). Romania’s largest electronic music festival, with hundreds of thousands of attendees. The city is packed — accommodation is booked many months in advance.

Autumn and winter

Start of the academic year (September–October). The city fills up again with students and parents; a lively time, with plenty of cultural events.

Christmas Market (December). Union Square (Piața Unirii) becomes a winter market with twinkling lights, mulled wine and a festive atmosphere.

Where to stay during events

At peak times, staying in the historic centre saves you time and travel. Vila Siago offers a quiet room a few steps from the action, while Siago Apartments gives you space and free parking if you are coming by car or staying several days. For the big events, book early.
